Installing on a television
Android TV has no browser worth using, so an APK is installed straight from an app that can download or open files. There is no one app every television has: any Android file manager will do, as will any of the downloader apps. If yours has neither, install one from Google Play first.
On a television, type this into a downloader app:

- Type the address above and download the file.
- Open the downloaded file. Android will ask whether that app may install unknown apps — read the note below before you allow it.
- Confirm the installation. Every later version arrives through the app itself — it will ask, but it will not be pleased about it.
Then, rather than typing an API key and a password on a remote control: set the television up from this computer.
Before you allow unknown sources
That permission lets the app you granted it to install anything it downloads. It is the only way an app from outside Google Play reaches a television, and it is also the usual way malware reaches one.
Install only files you understand, from a source you trust. Type the address yourself rather than following a link someone sent you. Take the permission away again when you are done — it can be granted whenever you need it. And if you are not sure what you are doing, do not do it alone: ask someone who is.
We are asking you for something that is not good practice in general, and we know it. Until the app is on Google Play there is no other route onto a television.
From a computer
Download the file here, then push it to the television with adb install. This needs no unknown-sources permission, because the installation comes from a computer you already trust.
